Server Upgrades, and one Bug Fix

Yesterday we noticed an all-time high in server activity, which is great for Zingtree because it means more and more people are deploying trees and using our tools. The downside was that for the first time we had a stretch of about 30 minutes with unacceptably slow performance.

In order to fix this and react swiftly, we upgraded our server setup as follows:

  • Any time we detect any single page that takes longer than 3 seconds to load, we add a server instance.

As soon as we did this, we got reports of some people being logged out unexpectedly. This was a side effect of having more servers running, and we were able to fix this last night. So this should not be an issue moving forward.

If you’re curious, we’re running on Amazon’s Elastic Beanstalk system. This is used by a lot of big players, because it’s infinitely scalable, yet you only use what you need. So, we’ve got you covered moving forward. Please be sure to let us know if you have any performance issues at all!

Updates: Decision Tree Customization and More

updates-blog

There’s nothing we love more than hearing from you. Your issues and uses of Zingtree. Which is why our March 8th update was inspired in response to several customers who asked for more ways to tailor the look and feel of your Zingtrees. Plus, we added a few more nifty reporting options, and some general cleanup based on your feedback.

We have more details on customization here, but here’s the summary of what else is new:

  • We now have a LinkedIn group set up for discussing all things Zingtree.
  • New option to customize by including custom CSS in Zingtree hosted, iFrame deployments.
  • Fixed alignment on deployed nodes with 1 or 2 buttons across.
  • Page titles and buttons can now include HTML — including FontAwesome icon code.
  • Clicks and usage reports with no data no longer show an error message. (h/t Blair)
  • Better session tracking reporting, with more accurate button click information.
  • Added source-tracking for iFrame.
  • Zingtree-hosted deployments now have tracking for individual agents or traffic sources.
  • The sessions list report shows total time for each session.
  • Properly track button clicks to open link nodes.

New (More!) February Updates

updates-blog It’s been almost a fortnight since our last round of updates, and don’t think for a second that we haven’t been making some helpful new edits to our service — both to the functionality and experience of Zingtree. As always, we would love to know your feedback, and if there’s anything that we should add to our task list to add or update.

Here’s what’s new:

  • Increased the button limit in Edit Node to twelve
  • Zendesk agent scripting app now handles searches properly
  • There’s now a Print button on receipt page
  • Ability to save and load trees from files saved to disk
  • Deployed trees:  Long button text on small screens now wraps properly
  • Link nodes: External links in iFrame deploy now link outside of iFrame
  • Link Nodes: You now have an option to open Link Node pages in a new tab
  • Bug fix: Question nodes with zero question text no longer revert to answer nodes after being saved

  • Tutorials for Wizard and Designer appear before launching these tools for the first time.
  • New video tutorials have been published for Wizard and Designer.
  • Deploy page is cleaner and clearer.
  • Some minor bug fixes and enhancements.

Read on for in-depth list of all of the details! And, as always, let us know what you think as you’re creating your own unique trees. You can always find us on TwitterFacebook and LinkedIn if you’d rather be social.
